The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,    

hallowed be your name,    

your kingdom come,    

your will be done,    

on earth as in heaven.    

Give us today our daily bread.    

Forgive us our sins    

as we forgive those who sin against us.    

Save us from the time of trial    

and deliver us from evil.    

For the kingdom, the power,    

and the glory are yours    

now and for ever.  Amen.

A Prayer for Peace

Almighty God,    

from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed:    

kindle, we pray, in the hearts of all, the true love of peace    

and guide with your pure and peaceable wisdom    

those who take counsel for the nations of the earth    

that in tranquillity your kingdom may go forward,    

till the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love;    

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen 

A Morning Prayer

Almighty and everlasting God,    

we thank you that you have brought us safely    

to the beginning of this day.    

Keep us from falling into sin    

or running into danger,    

order us in all our doings    

and guide us to do always    

what is righteous in your sight;    

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

An Evening Prayer

Lighten our darkness,    

Lord, we pray,    

and in your great mercy    

defend us from all perils and dangers of this night,    

for the love of your only Son,    

our Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen.

A Prayer before you sleep

May the cross of the Son of God,
which is mightier than all the hosts of Satan,
and more glorious than all the hosts of heaven,
abide with me in my going out and my coming in.
By day and by night, at morning and at evening,
at all times and in all places may it protect and defend me.
From the wrath of evildoers, from the assaults of evil spirits,
from foes visible and invisible, from the snares of the devil,
from all passions that beguile the soul and body:
may it guard, protect and deliver me.  Amen.

A Prayer for those who are ill

Almighty God, whose son, Jesus Christ, understood people’s fear and pain before they spoke of them, we pray for those who are ill: surround the fearful with your tenderness; give strength to those in pain; hold the weak in your arms of love; and give hope and patience to those who see no respite to their illness; we ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.   Amen. 

A Prayer for Difficult Times

Lord God, when all around seems dark and gloomy shed the light of your love in our lives. Give hope where things look hopeless; give purpose where all seems despair and help us to bring all our burdens and lay them at the foot of the cross; we ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.   Amen 

A Prayer of Commitment to God

Lord God,

Help me every day,

In every way,

To live for you.  Amen
